| George Lucas, Go Die In A Fire Please...Now playing: BeForU - Dive 2006 (I always loved Dive, but this is ridiculously good and driving to this....damn)
Well I did say I was likely done with movies for the summer. I lied. Fuck my curiosity.
I saw two movies. The first was the Clone Wars movie.
It Sucks. Hard. *Spoilers Ahead*
The plot blows (Dooku and Jabba's brother conspire to put the Jedi onto the Hutt's shitlist? Seriously?), the animation looks like garbage, and that new Jedi padawan is so fucking annoying that I was praying that she'd bite the bullet in the movie. Avoid at all costs.
Since I was so disgusted by Clone Wars, I hopped back on the line to check out Death Race. It's not saying much but Death Race looks Oscar-worth compared to Clone Wars. The action was balls to the wall and a lot of stuff blowing up. It was actually less gory that I'd expected. But still it's a fun ride for what it is. I especially liked how the Warden dies at the end.

| And with that, I'm likely done with summer movies--------------- Now playing: Alter Bridge - Metalingus via FoxyTunes ----------------
My Summer Movie Checklist: Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay Iron Man Speed Racer (maybe) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Hellboy II - The Golden Army The Dark Knight The Mummy III - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor You Don't Mess With The Zohan
WALL-E, The Forbidden Kingdom, Hancock, 'fraid you guys have to wait till DVD.
After the thrill of watching The Dark Knight, it's sort of sad to see the summer movie season officially (at least for me) come to an end. I'll be honest, I went into Mummy III with low expectations. I did come out somewhat satisfied, it was better than expected but not by a whole lot. Oh well.
But anyway, now that my season is over, time for rankings 1) The Dark Knight - Clear winner. 2) Iron Man - Still great, but TDK blew it out of the water. 3) Hellboy II The Golden Army - Enjoyable sequel. 4) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - OK movie, WTF ending, but the thrill was seeing Indy on the big screen again 5) Kung Fu Panda - Typical story but top notch animation. 6) Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay - Funny but somewhat disappointed. 7) You Don't Mess With The Zohan - Typical Sandler fare, not one of his better works but not the worst. 8) Speed Racer - Meh at best.
I may yet check out Pinapple Express or Tropic Thunder, but I'm leaning towards not at this moment. But overall, this summer season was a blast, Dark Knight and Iron Man has restored some faith in me that Hollywood hasn't totally lost it.

| The Big One Of The Summer My Summer Movie Checklist: The Forbidden Kingdom Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay Iron Man Speed Racer (maybe) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Hancock Hellboy II - The Golden Army The Dark Knight The Mummy III - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor You Don't Mess With The Zohan WALL-E
Review: I know I gushed over Iron Man, but The Dark Knight just blew it out of the water. The only real complaint (and it's such a minor one) is *SPOILERS* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I predicted that Gordon didn't really die, and I also predicted that Rachel was going to die. Which was kind of a given actually considering that Gordon becomes commish and Dent to Two-Face * * * * * * * * * * * * * *END SPOILERS*
It also got me to think a little. How far will one go in order to achieve the greater good? Either way, GO SEE THIS MOVIE, and I'm looking forward to watching this again...only in IMAX!!

"Because he is the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. And so, we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight..." | | |

Saw Hellboy II - The Golden Army last night. I'll just say this: The scene where Hellboy and Abe are dueting "Can't Smile Without You" just plain WINS.

| On this day...It may be hard for you to decide just where your talents and
true vocation lies, for you have a multitude of interests and are
loathe to limit yourself by concentrating on just one. You are
easily distracted by all of the other fascinating possibilities.
Your curiosity and restlessness propel you into many different
experiences in life, and you are willing to taste or try anything
once. Doing the same thing over and over again, even it is
something you do well, is real drudgery for you.
You live in your head a great deal - reading, observing,
thinking, spinning ideas around - and you need mental stimulation
every bit as much as you need food and drink. In fact, if you had
to choose between a good book or movie and a good lunch, you
would very likely choose the former. You have a creative mind and
often live by your wits.
You are also a very social creature, with a strong need to
communicate and to interact with people. You enjoy using and
playing with words and have a real flair for getting your ideas
across in a clever, interesting, articulate manner Writing or
speaking are areas you have talent for.
You also have a rather light and mischievous sense of humor,
and often do not take anything too seriously. Though you crave
emotional involvement, it is hard for you to achieve it, for you
are frequently unwilling to commit yourself to anything, to take
responsibility, or to limit your personal freedom and mobility.
Your happiness lies in using your creativity and your
language skills to communicate something meaningful, to teach,
inspire, or bring people together. You have an unbiased mind and
can usually offer a fresh, clear, uncluttered perspective. Your
faults are your lack of constancy and persistence, and your
tendency to overlook or ignore deep emotional issues and other
people's feelings. (http://www.skyviewzone.com/sunsigns2/gemini2.htm) Ehh...gotta take the good with the bad...
